Diwali activities

This week we learnt about the festival of Diwali.

"Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Lights which celebrates the New Year. It is celebrated some time between September and November each year. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes."

We made Rangoli patterns using coloured salt. It was rather tricky, but great fun.

As Diwali is the festival of light, we made some salt dough tea light holder, and decorated them with beads.

Some people brought in Indian clothes for us to try on, they were very pretty and sparkly!
