Swords, shields & a little walk

For St George's Day we had a little knights theme and decided to make some cardboard shields and swords.
There was a lot of cutting and painting, and a bit of play fighting in the garden.
And then we had a lovely walk around Fyne Court, with the usual mixture of sun and rain.

Earth Day and wind chimes

This week we focused on Earth Day (which is April 22nd). We talked about different ways of making energy such as solar, wind and water power and discussed why these are more sustainable options. We also talked about all of the different things which can be recycled, and why it is important - and played a little recycling game too!
We also did a water filtering experiment, and made some beautiful wind chimes using small clay plant pots, string and re-used objects such as spoons, keys, nuts and bolts and shells, pebbles and beads.

Afterwards we braved the rain and went out to play in the park - thankfully the sunshine came out eventually! There were a lot of families at our group this week which is always nice! We love having new people and meeting other home educaters. Please do get in touch if you would like to come along! tauntonhomeeducation@yahoo.com

Easter egg hunt

This week was Easter week, and lots of fun was had having an egg hunt! Paper eggs were hidden around the park, and after a morning of colouring in and then lunch the children were let loose in the park to find them all. Some of the paper eggs had words written on them, and once they were all found, they were laid out on the ground and were rearranged to spell out a clue as to where the eggs were. They all guessed immediately that the eggs were by the piano, so they rushed in, and there was a big basket of chocolate eggs and easter biscuits (kindly donated by some of the grown ups)! A great feast was had by many excited children!
